Shaolin Temple has a deep connection with the Li dynasty. In the third year of the Tang Dynasty's Wude era, thirteen monks, including Huixi and Tanzong, dissatisfied with Wang Renzhe's encroachment on Shaolin Temple's territory, led a rebellion against the false master. The thirteen monks stormed the Zheng army camp at night, captured Wang Renzhe alive, and presented him to Li Shimin, thus making a significant contribution to the Prince of Qin's unification of the country.
Shaolin martial arts emphasize the integration of Zen and martial arts. The moves are expansive and powerful, steady yet fluid, each movement imbued with the radiant light of Buddhism. In later stages of practice, one can even circulate internal energy throughout the body, creating a Vajra-like protective shield; even if struck, the opponent will suffer severe damage.
